Hi guys,

It’s pub month in Australia for The Soulmate, which means if you see me out and about somewhere not wearing pants, it’s because I’ve forgotten to wear pants. That happens sometimes in pub month. Especially when I’m simultaneously trying to finish up a new book, have just moved house, and am preparing to move house again. In the past you might have heard me talk about how it’s “achievable” for me to write a book a year. I stand by this. But please note I never said it was “achievable” to write a book a year, AND wear pants.

Anyway, here are my reccos!

It’s such a powerful, vulnerable and emotional story, with ripe tension all the way through. You’ll love it (even if you’re not super into tennis!) Buy here.

All the Broken Places by John Boyne

I was obsessed with this book. Written from the perspective of the sister from The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas, this book follows the life of Gretel, now 91 years old, and her search for redemption. I read this on the recommendation of the bookseller at Peregian Beach, where I was on holidays, and it is a miracle my kids didn’t drown while i sat by the pool devouring it. Buy here.

House of the Dragon (Binge)

Who is watching the (independent) prequel to Game of Thrones? I am OBSESSED, and think it is every bit as good as GOT. Not gonna lie, it’s full of gratuitous violence and sex (including some very weird incestuous stuff) but it’s kinda part of the charm? I don’t know. Maybe I’m dead inside and need this kind of stuff to feel. Anyhoo. Go watch it.

Ted Lasso (Apple TV)

People have been talking about this for ages and I’m kind of late to the party but YES. Love Ted Lasso and finally understand what all the fuss is about. Ted is a football coach from Kansas (hello adorable accent) who takes a job over in London to coach a failing soccer team (more adorable accents). Ugh, sports, right? Wrong. It’s about relationships and mental health and revenge and it’s just so, so clever and funny. No wonder it won all those Emmys.
